Dr. Justin Farrell

Biography

Justin Farrell is a Professor of Sociology at Yale University, where he focuses on how land beliefs shape American identity and the political and cultural divides that characterize contemporary society. His research bridges academic audiences and policymakers, having presented his work to the U.S. Senate, White House, Vatican, and United Nations. Farrell's publications appear in leading journals and presses, including Science, American Sociological Review, and Nature Climate Change, highlighting his expertise in sociology and environmental issues. A first-generation college graduate from Wyoming, he earned his Ph.D. from the University of Notre Dame. He divides his time between Yale and the Mountain West, conducting research on rural communities and their landscapes.
