Justin Haldar is a Professor in the Ming Hsieh Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Southern California (USC) and co-directs the Biomedical Imaging Group. He currently serves as the Director of the Signal Image Processing Institute and holds a joint appointment in the Department of Biomedical Engineering. His research interests focus on computational imaging, inverse problems, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), constrained image reconstruction, parameter estimation, and experimental design. Throughout his academic career, he has received numerous accolades including the NSF CAREER Award and IEEE honors for his papers. As a Deputy Editor-in-Chief for IEEE Transactions on Computational Imaging and an Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Medical Imaging, he is recognized for his contributions to the field. Haldar’s research group aims to overcome limitations associated with modern MRI methods, enhancing the ability to extract information from living human subjects, which in turn increases understanding of biological systems. Through novel data acquisition and image reconstruction techniques, his work addresses the challenges of signal-to-noise ratio and high costs of MRI technology.
