Biography

Professor Kim's research group is interested in using tools from organic chemistry to develop new reactions with further applications in organic synthesis, chemical biology, and materials science. The group takes a bottom-up approach to molecular challenges in these fields. His basic chemical research involves the exploration of novel synthetic strategies, the discovery of new molecular reactivity, and the synthesis of complex molecular architectures. These foundational efforts are aimed at accessing useful molecules and reactions for the study and manipulation of biologically relevant systems. Current projects include the development of bioorthogonal reactions, chemoproteomics-based target discovery, drug discovery, and the creation of functionally adaptive biomaterials.
