Justin Kollman is the Earl W. Davie/ZymoGenetics Endowed Chair and a Professor in the Department of Biochemistry at the University of Washington. He obtained his PhD from the University of California San Diego in 2005, where he focused on cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM) structures of proteins involved in blood clotting under the guidance of Professor Russell Doolittle. Following his PhD, Justin conducted postdoctoral research at UC San Francisco with Professor David Agard, where he determined the structures of microtubule-nucleating complexes using cryo-EM techniques. In 2012, he joined the Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology at McGill University, where his lab focused on the structural biology of cellular organization in bacteria. Justin began his tenure as an assistant professor at the University of Washington in 2014, where he continues to investigate the molecular mechanisms underlying protein structures and their functions in various biological processes.
