Biography

Justin L. Mann is an Assistant Professor in the Department of English at Northwestern University, with a Ph.D. in American Studies from George Washington University. His research interests include Black feminist theory, queer color studies, 20th and 21st century African American literatures, American Studies, and speculative fiction studies. He is currently developing a monograph on the cultural significance of Black dreams in the aftermath of the civil rights movement, analyzing a variety of sources from novels to contemporary films. Mann's work has been published in peer-reviewed journals such as MELUS, Feminist Theory, Surveillance & Society, and American Quarterly. He has contributed to critical volumes on Black feminism and science technology studies, with ongoing support from the Huntington Library and Princeton University.
