Biography

Justin Russell is an Associate Professor in the School of Engineering at the University of Warwick. He completed his MEng in Civil Engineering in 2010 and his PhD in Civil Engineering in 2015, both from the University of Nottingham. His research focuses on various aspects of civil engineering, particularly in areas related to structural engineering and dynamic responses of structures. He leads the Civil Engineering Degree Apprenticeship Programme and teaches structural analysis and construction materials as module leader. Russell's work includes studies on reinforced concrete structures and their dynamic behavior, exploring the effects of human-induced vibrations, as well as innovative construction materials like Fibre Reinforced Polymer (FRP) composites. He has published several papers investigating progressive collapse in structures and vibration serviceability in railway crossings. Justin is actively involved in guiding prospective PhD students and continues to contribute to the academic community through both research and teaching.
