Biography

Justine MacLean has been a lecturer in Physical Education at the Moray House Institute, School of Education of the University of Edinburgh since 1998. Her PhD research focused on the factors that enable and constrain Physical Education teachers' agency regarding large-scale educational reform. Currently, she serves as Programme Director for the Year 3 MA (Hons) Physical Education and is responsible for course organizing placements. Justine is passionate about using research to enhance teaching and assist students in developing resilience and agency to reach their full potential. She teaches various aspects of the MA Physical Education programme and her research interests include teacher agency, curriculum policy, and the sociology of education, with a focus on inclusive practices and health and wellbeing. Justine has also acted as a reviewer for several academic journals in her field and is involved in collaborative research efforts across multiple disciplines within the university.
