Dr. Juup Stelma

Biography

Juup Stelma is a Professor of Language Education and the Deputy Head of the School of Environment and Development at the University of Manchester. He has been part of the university since 2005 and previously worked at the University of Leeds, where he completed both his master's and doctoral degrees. At the Manchester Institute of Education, he teaches primarily on the MA TESOL degree program, with a focus on the psychology of language education and involvement in the MA Education for Sustainable Environment. His research scholarship concentrates on using social and ecological complexity theories to understand language education and multilingualism across various settings. His research interests include the development of an ecological perspective on education, language education (TESOL), and sustainability in higher education. Additionally, he has international experience in countries such as Norway, Oman, Russia, South Korea, Turkey, and the United Kingdom, and he has expertise related to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
