Dr. Jye Chyi Lu

Biography

Jye-Chyi (JC) Lu is a Professor at the H. Milton Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering at Georgia Tech. He received his Ph.D. in Statistics from the University of Wisconsin at Madison in 1988 and has since contributed significantly to the field of engineering statistics, with over 100 journal publications. Dr. Lu joined the statistics faculty at North Carolina State University before moving to Georgia Tech in 1999. He has supervised 27 Ph.D. students and has received substantial support from industry and National Science Foundation grants for his research in engineering statistics and analytics. His research focuses on applying economic decision modeling and optimization in areas such as energy distribution networks and intelligent operations optimization. Dr. Lu has received multiple honors in teaching, including several CIOS Honor Rolls and the 2022 CIOS Award for Student Recognition of Excellence in Teaching. He has taught numerous courses, engaging a diverse group of undergraduate, master's, and Ph.D. students. In addition to his teaching and research, Dr. Lu actively participates in various professional organizations and serves as an associate editor for respected journals.
