Dr. Jyhene Kebsi

Biography

Jyhene Kebsi joined Macquarie University in 2018 as a tenured Senior Assistant Professor in North African & Middle Eastern Gender Studies, with a focus on research and teaching. She has held several roles including MA Program Convenor and Director of Learning & Teaching, and has been recognized with multiple nominations for Teaching Awards at both Macquarie University and the University of Sydney. Kebsi's scholarly work has appeared in numerous highly-ranked journals such as Journal of World Literature and Frontiers: Journal of Women Studies, and she is actively working on book contracts with respected publishers including Texas University Press and University of Michigan Press. Throughout her career, she has taught at various prestigious institutions, including the University of Sydney and Western Sydney University, and has delivered over 40 conference presentations, including keynote speeches. She has also founded a student network aimed at organizing conferences and writing workshops, contributing significantly to the academic community. Her research interests encompass migrant and refugee literature, cinema, particularly the representation of Arab transnational families, as well as Anglophone Arab women's literature, making her a prominent figure in her field.
