Biography

Prof. Shung obtained a PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of Washington, Seattle, in 1975. He served as a faculty member at Penn State University for 23 years before joining USC. He has led the NIH Resource for Medical Ultrasonic Transducer Technology since 1997 and has authored more than 250 papers and books. His current research focuses on high-frequency ultrasonic imaging and transducer development, supported by NIH funding. He works on creating high-frequency ultrasonic transducer arrays that enhance spatial resolution for applications in dermatology, ophthalmology, intravascular imaging, and small animal imaging.
