Biography

Kaely is an experienced senior executive and company director with a rich history of working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. She has substantial public sector and commercial experience focused on Indigenous peoples’ economic development. Kaely's work spans diverse areas including native title, land rights, heritage protection, health, housing, home ownership, governance, and economic development, providing her with deep insights into Indigenous policy development. In 2012, she served as the Deputy CEO of Indigenous Business Australia (IBA), which supports Indigenous Australians in wealth creation, asset accumulation, and business home ownership. With over eight years as a company director in commercial and not-for-profit sectors, her board experience includes collaborating with Aboriginal people as owners, joint venture partners, and key stakeholders. Kaely's doctoral research focused on identifying feasible and reliable methods for quantifying the cultural values of Indigenous peoples. She utilized choice modeling to measure the value of perspectives held by the Nyikina Mangala people in the West Kimberley, addressing significant challenges in assessing native title, cultural heritage values, and environmental assessments. Her approach aims to incorporate Indigenous viewpoints into decision-making processes.
