Biography

Kaelyn Sumigray earned a B.S. in Biology from Union College in 2006 and went on to obtain her Ph.D. in Cell Biology from Duke University in 2011. She has completed postdoctoral training as a fellow at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and at Duke University where she worked under Terry Lechler from 2013 to 2019. During her postdoctoral career, she was awarded the NIH Kirschstein postdoctoral fellowship and the Dermatology Foundation Research Grant. In 2019, she joined the faculty at Yale University as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Genetics, where she is also a Co-Director at the Yale Summer Enrichment Research Experience offered by the Yale Center for Clinical Investigation. Her research focuses on various aspects of cell biology including actin cytoskeleton dynamics, cell adhesion, and organogenesis, with specific interests in intestinal morphogenesis and stem cell niches.
