Biography

Kai Li is a Professor in the Finance Division at the UBC Sauder School of Business. He holds a BSc from Jiaotong University, an MA from Concordia University, and a PhD from the University of Toronto. Dr. Li is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada and holds the W.M. Young Chair. His research interests include corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, corporate culture, corporate innovation, gender finance, and machine learning. He has published extensively in leading academic journals, with notable works addressing the role of corporate culture, the impact of gender in finance, and innovative methods utilizing machine learning. Dr. Li has received several prestigious awards for his research, including the John L. Weinberg/IRRCi Paper Award at the Weinberg/ECGI Corporate Governance Symposium and a Paper Award at the 2024 China International Conference in Finance. He is actively teaching Corporate Finance for the academic year 2025-2026.
