Biography

Kaibo Hu works in the field of numerical partial differential equations, developing structure-preserving and compatible discretizations. His current research focuses on finite element exterior calculus (FEEC) and its interactions with discrete differential geometry, topology, geometric mechanics, discrete physics, network theory, and their applications to scientific problems involving continuum mechanics and topological hydrodynamics. He completed his PhD at Peking University in 2017 and has held postdoctoral positions at the University of Oslo and the University of Minnesota from 2017 to 2020. He is currently a Hooke Research Fellow and holds a Royal Society University Research Fellowship at the University of Oxford. Kaibo Hu has received multiple prestigious awards for his work, including the Frontiers Science Award in 2025 and an ERC Starting Grant in 2024. He plans to move back to Oxford in 2025 after a tenure as a Reader at the University of Edinburgh.
