Dr. Kaisey Mandel

Biography

Professor Kaisey Mandel holds an interdisciplinary faculty position jointly in the Statistical Laboratory of the Department of Pure Mathematics and Mathematical Statistics and the Institute of Astronomy at the University of Cambridge. He has served as the Past Chair of the Astrostatistics Interest Group of the American Statistical Association and is a member of the Council of the International Astrostatistics Association. As a Turing Fellow Alumnus, he co-organizes the Cambridge Astro Data Science Discussion Group. Professor Mandel's research interests lie at the intersections of astrophysics, cosmology, statistics, and machine learning, focusing on areas such as Astrostatistics, astronomical machine learning, and astroinformatics. He applies statistical methods to time-domain astronomy and cosmology, and his work encompasses Bayesian modeling and inference, as well as statistical computation.
