Dr. Kaitai Liang

Biography

Kaitai Liang is a tenured faculty member in the Cybersecurity group at Delft University of Technology, where he leads the CRYPTAI Lab. He obtained his PhD from City University of Hong Kong. Before joining Delft in 2020, he held various academic positions including an information security research intern at A*STAR, postdoctoral researcher at Aalto University, and academic visitor at several prestigious institutions such as University College London and Northwest University. He was previously a permanent assistant professor for secure systems at the University of Surrey. Dr. Liang has been recognized significantly in the cybersecurity community, having secured European funding for high-impact projects related to cybersecurity and AI, amounting to 2 million euros as a principal investigator. His research has resulted in real-world impacts through collaborations focused on projects involving smart satellites, smart transportation, and cross-border biometric data exchange. He has authored over 5,800 citations and is regarded among the top 2% of citation scientists globally. His work has been published in leading conferences and prestigious journals like IEEE Internet of Things Journal. Dr. Liang is also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy in the UK and holds a University Teaching Qualification in the Netherlands. He is involved in teaching and supervising MSc and PhD theses across various countries.
