Biography

Kaitlyn Hanley is an Industry Associate Professor at the NYU Tandon School of Engineering in the Department of Civil and Urban Engineering. She joined the faculty in August 2022. Her research focuses on microbial water quality, with specific interests in microbial source tracking (MST), waterborne pathogens, and total maximum daily loads (TMDL), as well as shellfish safety. Prior to her current position, she was an Adjunct Professor at Tandon and worked as a Senior Engineer and Laboratory Project Manager at Wood PLC, where she led various projects aimed at identifying and mitigating sources of human fecal pollution. Hanley earned her PhD and Master's degrees in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of California, Davis, and a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering from Cornell University.
