Biography

Kaitlyn Sloan has been an instructor at the University of Saskatchewan's College of Nursing since 2025. She obtained her Bachelor of Nursing (BN) degree from Memorial University of Newfoundland in 2017 and later completed her Master of Nursing with a teaching focus from Athabasca University in 2022. Additionally, she successfully completed the Canadian Association of Schools of Nursing Clinical Instructor certification in 2022. Kaitlyn has primarily practiced in medical-surgical fields, specifically in orthopaedic and vascular surgery as well as in the medical-surgical ICU. In 2020, she began teaching clinical groups while continuing her clinical practice, which ignited her passion for teaching undergraduate nursing students. She has also taught at the Centre for Nursing Studies in St. John's, Newfoundland, and at the British Columbia Institute of Technology in Vancouver, British Columbia. Kaitlyn's experience spans both LPN and Bachelor of Nursing programs, where she has taught clinical, lab, and theory courses. A key component of her personal teaching philosophy is recognizing the connection between psychological safe learning environments and student success.
