Biography

Kaj Granath is a Senior Lecturer in Building Design and Architecture at Chalmers University of Technology. He graduated as an architect from Chalmers and obtained his PhD in 2006. Prior to his current position, Kaj worked at Jönköping University as a program manager for the bachelor's program in Architectural Engineering, where he focused on internationalization efforts. He also has five years of experience as an architect in Sweden and Luxembourg. During his PhD candidacy, Kaj spent a year as a visiting fellow at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. His role has since evolved into that of a visiting researcher at Chalmers, particularly connected to the Centre for Housing Architecture. One of his main tasks includes leading the "Volume Quality" project alongside a group of researchers from the ACE network, collaborating with the municipal housing company Framtiden AB to develop a value model for housing quality that assists clients in commissioning new housing projects. Kaj is also actively involved in teaching at both bachelor and master levels. His research primarily focuses on digitalization, Building Information Modeling (BIM) in the building sector, and housing architecture, with a special emphasis on housing for the elderly.
