Biography

Kallirroi Kefala trained in Respiratory Critical Care Medicine in Edinburgh. She became a Consultant in Critical Care Medicine at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, where she specializes in Non-Invasive Ventilation and Home Ventilation. In 2007, she was awarded an MD from the University of Edinburgh for her research on the characterization of lung innate immunity in patients with Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia. Kallirroi completed her research fellowship in Toronto, Canada, and returned to Edinburgh in 2011. Her research interests focus on Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia (VAP) and Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS). She is a co-investigator in the HARP-2, ISOC-2, and ABLE studies, and is the local Principal Investigator for the VAP-R study. Kallirroi has published articles in her field and continues to contribute to critical care medicine through research and clinical practice.
