Biography

Kamil M. Yenice is an Associate Professor at the University of Chicago in the Department of Radiation and Cellular Oncology. He received his Ph.D. in Experimental Physics from the University of Toledo in 1993. He began his academic career as a lecturer at Penn State University-Erie, focusing on Medical Physics. Yenice's medical physics career initially started at New York Hospital, Cornell Medical Center in New York City before joining the faculty at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Since 2005, he has been a faculty member in Radiation Oncology at the University of Chicago, where he currently serves as the Chief Clinical Physics Director of the Medical Physics Residency Program. His research emphasizes the use of image-guided stereotactic treatment delivery methods with a focus on enhancing the quality assurance aspects of patient treatments. He has published works related to the implementation of stereotactic delivery methods, including the SRS and SBRT, and has co-chaired the AAPM TG-101 Report on SBRT. Dr. Yenice also plays an active role in professional organizations as the co-chair of the ASTRO APEx committee and chair of the AAPM WGIMRT, advocating for patient safety, practice accreditation, and improved quality of care. He is board certified by the American Board of Medical Physics (ABMP).
