Dr. Kamran Malikov

Biography

Kamran joined the University of Southampton as an Associate Professor in Accounting in January 2023. He previously worked as an Associate Professor and Assistant Professor of Accounting at the University of Essex, where he also served as Director of Postgraduate Programmes at Essex Business School. Kamran's research interests include capital market-based accounting research, earnings quality, earnings management, corporate events such as mergers and acquisitions, and debt covenants, alongside corporate governance. He has established a consistent national and international reputation in accounting and finance, supported by his increasing involvement in publication and peer review for prestigious international journals. Kamran has published papers in top-ranked, peer-reviewed international journals. He teaches various accounting and finance modules at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including Management Accounting 1 and Fundamentals of Management Accounting. Kamran has a PhD in Accounting and Finance from the University of Essex and an MSc in Finance from the University of Exeter.
