Dr. Kamran Paynabar

Biography

Kamran Paynabar is the Fouts Family Chair at the H. Milton Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering at Georgia Tech. He focuses on engineering-driven statistical modeling, statistical learning methods, and big data analytics. Paynabar's research interests include the theoretical aspects of data mining, high-dimensional complex data analysis, and the integration of engineering knowledge. His methodologies are applied across various fields including manufacturing, aerospace, automotive, and healthcare. Paynabar is known for his structured teaching philosophy that fosters an intellectually stimulating environment, encouraging students to think critically. He has received numerous awards for his contributions to teaching and research, including the INFORMS Data Mining Student Paper Award and the CETL/BP Junior Faculty Teaching Excellence Award at Georgia Tech. He earned his B.S. and M.Sc. in Industrial Engineering from Iran University of Science and Technology and Azad University, respectively, and obtained his Ph.D. in Industrial Operations Engineering from the University of Michigan. His commitment to academic excellence has not gone unnoticed, having been recognized as a National Elite by the Iranian National Elite Society.
