Biography

Kamy Sepehrnoori is a Professor and holder of the Texaco Centennial Chair at the Hildebrand Department of Petroleum and Geosystems Engineering, University of Texas at Austin. He earned his Ph.D. in Petroleum Engineering in 1977, having previously completed an M.S.E. in 1974 and a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering in 1973 from the same institution. His research interests are focused on advanced methods in geologic carbon storage, enhanced oil recovery, hydrogen storage, reservoir engineering, and natural gas engineering. Professor Sepehrnoori has developed numerous compositional reservoir simulators and has made significant contributions to the modeling of asphaltene deposition in reservoirs. He has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and serves on several editorial boards, highlighting his commitment to advancing knowledge in the field. He has received numerous awards including the Distinguished Alumni Award from his department in 2023 and the Society of Petroleum Engineers Distinguished Achievement Award in 2020. His teaching is highly regarded, receiving various awards for excellence.
