Biography

Kan Wu is a Professor in the Department of Petroleum Engineering at Texas A&M University. He received his Ph.D. in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin, along with a Master's and Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering from China University of Petroleum (East). His research interests include data interpretation, forward modeling, distributed fiber optic strain sensing, and hydraulic fracture modeling. He is active in subsurface monitoring for carbon storage and enhanced geothermal systems, and focuses on hybrid physics data-driven modeling and multi-scale, multi-physics modeling. Wu has received numerous awards for his contributions to the field, including the Completions Optimization Technology Award from the Society of Petroleum Engineers, and the Distinguished Lecturer award for 2023-2024.
