Dr. Kanta Murali

Biography

Kanta Murali is an Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of Toronto. His research interests encompass comparative political economy and development studies, with a specific focus on Indian politics and economic policy. His areas of interest include state-business relations, state capacity, and issues of inequality and ethnicity in economic development. Murali's recent works include his co-edited volume on the intersection of business and politics in India, as well as a significant publication exploring the political economy of democracy and inequality in India. He has received a Ph.D. in Politics from Princeton University, where he developed a strong foundation in the complexities of political structures and economic strategies in developing countries. Murali contributes to academia through a variety of publications and continues to engage deeply with the socio-political drivers of economic policy in both national and international contexts.
