Biography

Karen-Lise Garm Spindler is a Clinical Professor and senior consultant responsible for treatment development in gastrointestinal cancer care. She works with liquid biopsies, specifically ctDNA, and leads clinical studies aimed at integrating ctDNA transformation into cancer treatment. Her focus is on improving treatments for anal cancer, and she leads the international consortium IMACC. In her role, she has clinical responsibilities for gastrointestinal cancer and supervises PhD students, medical students, research assistants, and postdocs. She also chairs the Scientific Committee of the Danish Cancer Society (KBVU) and leads the Danish Anal Cancer Group (DACG), the IMACC consortium, and the national clinical DCCC network for ctDNA-RECIST. Additionally, she is involved in an international research program called ELBS, which focuses on implementing ctDNA-based response criteria. Her areas of expertise include cancer therapy, radiotherapy, circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA), gastrointestinal cancers, and biomarkers.
