Dr. Karen Anderson

Biography

Karen S. Anderson is a Professor of Pharmacology, Molecular Biophysics, and Biochemistry at Yale University. She is actively involved in teaching undergraduate and graduate students about drug discovery and structure-based drug design. Dr. Anderson serves as a mentor for undergraduate research and has played a role in guiding many students towards successful careers in academia and industry. Her research focus is on mechanistic enzymology and structure-based drug design, particularly in understanding enzymes critical to diseases such as cancer and HIV. Through her work, she aims to develop new drug therapies by using molecular insights to guide therapeutic interventions. In addition, she has trained numerous students including undergraduates, graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows, imparting her knowledge upon the next generation of researchers. Dr. Anderson’s research incorporates key enzyme targets for drug development, addressing significant issues in the medical treatment of infectious diseases and cancer.
