Biography

Karen E. Aspry, M.D., M.S. FACC FNLA FAHA, is an Associate Professor of Medicine and a Clinician Educator at Brown University. She is a clinical cardiologist and Director of the Lipid Prevention Program at the Lifespan Cardiovascular Institute. Dr. Aspry's clinical research interests focus on clinical lipidology and the prevention of cardiovascular disease. She has special interests in the relationship between diet and heart disease, as well as the application of health population management strategies to cardiovascular disease risk. Dr. Aspry earned her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in nutritional science from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst and the University of California-Berkeley, respectively. She received her M.D. from the University of California-Davis School of Medicine and completed her post-graduate training at U.C. Davis Medical Center in Sacramento, California. Since joining the Brown faculty in 2006, she has been recognized for her teaching and clinical contributions. Her awards include being a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and the National Lipid Association, as well as receiving the Award for Excellence in Preventive Cardiology from U.C. Davis School of Medicine. Dr. Aspry has served on various committees, including the Nutrition Committee of the American Heart Association and the American College of Cardiology.
