Biography

Karen Cacace is a lecturer at Columbia Law School and currently serves as the Labor Bureau Chief at the New York State Office of the Attorney General. In this role, she oversees the Bureau's civil and criminal enforcement of labor laws and represents the New York State Department of Labor and the Workers’ Compensation Board. Before joining the Attorney General's Office, she was the Director of the Employment Law Unit at the Legal Aid Society, where she focused on providing representation, community education, and advice to low-income residents of New York City regarding violations of employment laws. Earlier in her career, she was a partner at Vladeck, Waldman, Elias & Engelhard, P.C., where she represented clients in employment-related matters with a focus on discrimination claims. She has also served as an adjunct professor at New York University and Fordham Law School and worked as an associate at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP. Additionally, she completed a clerkship with the Honorable Manuel L. Real in the United States District Court for the Central District of California. Karen earned her degree from Wesleyan University and graduated from the University of Pennsylvania Law School.
