Biography

Karen is a full-time faculty member at the University of Saskatchewan (USask) College of Nursing, specializing in pediatric and adolescent health. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) at USask in 1984, followed by a Master's in Nursing (MN) in 2001, and received her PhD from the University of Regina in 2021. In addition to her teaching role, Karen serves as the chair of the Saskatchewan Pain Board Directors for the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan, focusing on pain management. She has earned several awards, including the SRNA Millennium Award for Innovation in Nursing and the Canadian Pain Society's Interprofessional Nursing Project Award in 2013. Karen is also a co-principal investigator on the Improving Pain Saskatchewan (IPSK) research project aimed at enhancing pain management practices in Saskatchewan.
