Dr. Karen Keifer Boyd

Biography

Karen Keifer-Boyd is a Professor of Art Education and Women's, Gender, Sexuality Studies at Penn State University. She has held leadership roles including past president of the National Art Education Association's Women’s Caucus, and is a recipient of multiple prestigious awards such as NAEA Distinguished Fellow and Fulbright Distinguished Chair in Gender Studies. Her research focuses on feminist pedagogy, inclusion, disability justice, and social justice arts-based approaches. She has contributed significantly to the field with numerous publications and four co-authored books. Additionally, Keifer-Boyd has served as an editor for academic journals and played pivotal roles in various educational committees and projects aimed at enhancing equity and diversity in art education. She has received numerous grants to further her research in social justice and art education, and has demonstrated a commitment to advancing the role of women in the arts and education.
