Biography

Karen Leung is an Assistant Professor in the Aeronautics and Astronautics Department at the University of Washington, where she also serves as the director of the Control Trustworthy Robotics Laboratory. Prior to joining the University of Washington, she was a Research Scientist in the Autonomous Vehicle Research Group at NVIDIA. Karen received her Ph.D. in Aeronautics and Astronautics from Stanford University in 2021. Her main research interests lie in the development of safe, intelligent, and trustworthy robotic systems, particularly focusing on interactions between humans and robotic systems in safety-critical settings. Throughout her academic career, Karen has been recognized with several awards, including the UW + Amazon Science Hub Faculty Research Award, the William F. Ballhaus Prize for her Ph.D. thesis, and the Qualcomm Innovation Fellowship (US).
