Dr. Karen Lewis

Biography

Karen K. Lewis is the Joseph Ida Sondheimer Professor of International Economics and Finance at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. She holds a PhD from the University of Chicago and a BA from the University of Oklahoma. Her research interests focus primarily on asset pricing, international finance, macrofinance, and investments. She has published extensively in top-tier journals, including the Journal of International Economics and the Review of Financial Studies. In addition to her academic role, Lewis has served as a research associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research since 1991 and has been a senior fellow at the Globalization and Monetary Policy Institute of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas since 2010. Her teaching includes courses on global valuation and risk analysis, as well as independent studies that integrate practical skills with financial management principles. Throughout her career, Lewis has held several notable positions, including co-director of the Weiss Center for International Financial Research and consultant roles at the International Monetary Fund. Her extensive experience in the field of economics and finance makes her a leading figure in the academic community.
