Biography

Karen Oliveira Da Costa is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Gothenburg, specializing in International Studies. She holds a PhD (2011) in International Studies from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva and an LL.M. in German Law from Ludwig-Maximilian University, Munich. Before her current position, she worked at University College London as a Research Associate on the 'Human Rights and Borders' project, as well as serving as a Legal Consultant for the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and a Human Rights Officer for the United Nations in Côte d'Ivoire. Her recent publications include critical analyses on the extraterritorial application of human rights treaties and the impact of disasters on human rights enjoyment. She has coordinated various Master's programmes related to Human Rights.
