Biography

Karen Rowa is a Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioural Neurosciences at McMaster University. She serves as the Clinical Director of the Anxiety Treatment Research Clinic at St. Joseph's Healthcare and is the Provincial Clinical Lead for the Ontario Structured Psychotherapy Program. Her research focuses on various topics related to assessment, understanding, and treatment in the realms of health, clinical counseling psychology, and psychiatry, particularly psychotherapy. Rowa is a member of the Peter Boris Centre for Addictions Research and has had significant leadership in her field, having served as the President of the Canadian Association of Cognitive Behavioural Therapies from 2020 to 2023. She obtained her PhD from the University of Waterloo and has completed postgraduate training as a CIHR Postdoctoral Fellow specializing in Anxiety Disorders.
