Biography

Karen Dorsey Sheares is an Associate Professor and Director of the Center for Outcomes Research and Evaluation (CORE) at Yale New Haven Hospital. Sheares completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Virginia and earned her medical degree at Washington University in St. Louis. Sheares received her doctorate in Investigative Medicine from Yale University, where she also was a clinical scholar and fellow in the Clinical Research Program. Her research has primarily focused on the relationships between obesity and physical activity in children. In 2012, she joined CORE, where she has been leading the Quality Measurement Program, overseeing the development and implementation of new measures, particularly in the realm of digital health metrics and the use of electronic health record data. Sheares is also significantly involved in CORE's Digital Transformation Strategy and federal projects related to new business development.
