Professor Dr. Karen Thodberg

Biography

Karen Thodberg is a Senior Researcher at Aarhus University within the Department of Animal and Veterinary Sciences. Her research focuses on animal behavior, human-animal relationships, and the therapeutic use of animals. With a Master's degree in Biology specializing in Ethology and a Ph.D. in Ethology from the Royal Veterinary and Agricultural University in Copenhagen, Thodberg has established expertise in the field of animal welfare, particularly in relation to animal transport and ethological issues. Her projects have included optimizing the transport of sows for improved animal welfare and carcass value, as well as developing indicators for risk situations in handling cattle. Thodberg is involved in multiple projects aimed at enhancing the understanding and management of human-animal interactions, including therapeutic applications in human settings. Her contributions to the field are supported by her involvement in peer-reviewed manuscripts and conferences.
