Dr. Karen Wuertz

Biography

Karen M. Wuertz earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery from the UT Health School of Dentistry at San Antonio in 1992 and completed her general practice residency at Jewish Hospital in St. Louis in 1993. She holds the position of Associate Professor and Group Practice Director at the UTHealth Houston School of Dentistry. Her clinical interests encompass general dentistry, dental sleep medicine, and craniofacial pain management. Wuertz is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Dental Association, the Texas Dental Association, and the Academy of General Dentistry. She holds diplomate status from the American Board of Craniofacial Dental Sleep Medicine and the American Board of Laser Surgery. Additionally, she is a fellow of the American Academy of Craniofacial Pain, contributing her expertise in TMD, craniofacial pain, and dental sleep medicine. Throughout her career, Wuertz has focused on advancing clinical practice in these areas and has participated in various advanced training programs, including a mini-residency in TMD and Craniofacial Pain at Tufts University and courses in dental sleep medicine in Boston. Her commitment to advancing knowledge in her field is demonstrated through her active membership in numerous professional societies dedicated to dental sleep medicine and myofunctional therapy.
