Dr. Kari Landry

Biography

Kari Landry is a Lecturer in the Department of Entrepreneurship & Leadership at the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre & Dance. She is the founder of the acclaimed Akropolis Reed Quintet, which has been recognized for its imaginative performances and educational outreach since its founding in 2009. Hailed by Fanfare Magazine for 'imagination and infallible musicality,' Akropolis has delivered over 100 engaging performances throughout the United States and abroad. Kari has received numerous accolades, including the Fischoff Gold Medal in 2014 and multiple prizes in national competitions. Her festival appearances span notable events such as the Summerwinds Festival in Germany and the Chamber Music Northwest in Portland. The Akropolis Reed Quintet has commissioned more than 50 new works, collaborating with prominent composers and institutions. Kari is also dedicated to expanding access to classical music and has actively engaged with approximately 10,000 school-aged children. She holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in clarinet performance from the University of Michigan and a master’s in arts administration from Eastern Michigan University. Kari’s commitment to education was recognized with the Fischoff Educator Award in 2015 for innovative programming for children and youth.
