Biography

Karin Mickelson joined the Faculty in 1991 as an Assistant Professor and was promoted to Associate Professor in 1998. She teaches international law, international environmental law, real property law, environmental law, and legal theory, and has supervised a wide range of graduate students. Professor Mickelson has served as the faculty advisor for UBC teams participating in the Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition. Her research activities focus on the South-North dimension of international law, including the exploration of a distinctive World approach to international law. She has contributed to leading Canadian casebooks in international law and environmental law. Her current research focuses on the impact of developing countries on the evolution of international environmental law.
