Dr. Karin Slotema

Biography

Karin Slotema is an endowed professor at Erasmus University Rotterdam within the Clinical Psychology group, Department of Psychology, Education, and Child Studies. She obtained her PhD in 2011 with a focus on the treatment of patients with therapy-resistant auditory verbal hallucinations. Additionally, she is a chief resident in psychiatry at Parnassia Groep in the Haaglanden region and works as a psychiatrist in the Personality Disorders department at Parnassia Groep in The Hague. Her research primarily revolves around Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) for personality disorders, brief schema therapy for personality disorders, hallucinations associated with borderline personality disorder, and destigmatization of individuals with personality disorders. She has received various research grants from ZonMw and the Foundation for Support VCVGZ, and has presented her research findings at numerous national and international conferences. She serves as the head of the knowledge center for personality disorders at Parnassia Groep.
