Karin van Wingerde received her PhD from Erasmus University Rotterdam in 2012. Her research has focused on the interplay between regulatory enforcement behavior and business organizations, particularly in the context of white-collar crime. She has conducted studies on the deterrent effects of formal legal sanctions within firms in the waste industry and analyzed various corporate crimes, including bribery. Currently, her research includes enforcement of health and safety violations, punishment for organized crime, and misuse of corporate vehicles in illicit finance. Van Wingerde has been an academic research partner for the Dutch Gaming Authority since 2016 and is a member of the editorial boards of the Dutch Journal of Regulation and Governance and the Dutch Journal of Criminology. Her interests extend to corporate white-collar crime, regulation, governance enforcement, and public policy.
