Biography

Karine Duplan is a social and cultural geographer specializing in urban issues related to social inclusion and the right to the city, with specific expertise in gender, sexuality, and migration. She has been a senior lecturer and research associate in the School of Social Sciences at the University of Geneva since 2016. In 2024, she was nominated as an Outstanding Female Academic by the Swiss National Science Foundation. From 2024 to 2025, Karine will be a visiting scholar at Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne University, collaborating with Marianne Blidon. In January 2025, she will be a visiting scholar at the City Institute York University in Toronto, Canada, working with Alison Bain. Her research interests include social inclusion, diversity, spatial justice, urban politics, citizenship, public space, gender, sexuality, intersectionality, mobility, transnational migration, and globalization.
