Biography

Dr. Karine Lortie completed her medical training at the University of Ottawa, earning her MD in 2003 and receiving her FRCSC in 2008. She undertook her residency at the University of Saskatchewan and Ottawa, followed by a fellowship in minimally invasive gynecology and endoscopic surgery at the Regina General Hospital, University of Saskatchewan from 2008 to 2009. Dr. Lortie has enhanced her leadership training in communication, self-awareness, and mindfulness for physicians, reflective of her commitment to education for future physicians. Currently, she serves as the Director of the CanSAGE fellowship in Minimally Invasive Gynecology at the University of Ottawa. Her clinical focus is on tertiary level surgical gynecology, with expertise in managing uterine fibroids, pelvic masses, and performing hysteroscopic procedures for endometriosis. Her research interests encompass surgical education, curriculum development and evaluation, outcomes of surgical procedures, patient safety, and physician wellness.
