Dr. Karl Ask

Biography

Karl Ask is a Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Gothenburg, specializing in Applied Psychology. He earned his Ph.D. in Psychology in 2006, became a Docent in 2011, and was promoted to Professor in 2018. He is a member of the research unit Criminal, Legal, Investigative Psychology (CLIP) and teaches courses in social psychology, cognitive psychology, and legal psychology. His research interests include emotion and social cognition, particularly how current emotional states influence judgments of responsibility and blame, as well as the assessment of credibility in social interactions. Additionally, he delves into decision-making processes in legal contexts, examining the motivations and emotions that affect these judgments, especially regarding criminal evidence and the experiences of crime victims within the legal system. Ask has published extensively in academic journals and is actively involved in research within the field of forensic psychology, contributing to the understanding of psychological aspects related to legal practices and decision-making.
