Biography

Karl Malmqvist is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Sociology and Work Science at the University of Gothenburg. He holds a PhD in sociology, with a dissertation titled 'Boundaries of the Public Sphere: Five Cultural Sociological Case Studies of Controversies in Literary Autobiographies in Sweden 1976-2008' which explored the cultural debates surrounding literary autobiographies in major Swedish newspapers. His research has increasingly focused on the sociology of emotions. He was a visiting fellow at the Department of Sociology at the University of Copenhagen from 2014 to 2015, where he led a research project on aggressive emotions in online spaces.
