Dr. Karla Ausderau

Biography

Karla Ausderau is a Professor in the Department of Occupational Therapy at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she also serves as the Director of Graduate Studies. Ausderau holds a PhD in Occupational Science from the University of Southern California and has extensive experience in postdoctoral research. Her research primarily focuses on the sensory experiences of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and how these experiences impact their development and family interactions. She has published several influential papers on topics such as sensory response patterns in nonverbal children and the role of mealtimes in families affected by ASD. In addition to her academic writings, Ausderau actively participates in conferences, presenting her findings on sensory features and challenges faced by children with ASD. Her educational background includes a Bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and both a Master's and PhD from the University of Southern California, where she specialized in Occupational Science.
