Karla McManus is an art historian and visual theorist specializing in the study of photography and environmental imaginaries. Her scholarly output includes curation, publications, and presentations focusing on historic and contemporary concerns such as wildlife conservation, environmental disasters, and the anxieties of the future as visualized photographically. Recent projects feature an exploration of the history of bird photography and its impact on the twentieth-century conservation movement. Additionally, she sits on the Board of Directors of the Universities Art Association of Canada and serves as Prairie Representative on the Board of Blackflash Magazine.
